During initial assessment we will do a comprehensive evaluation to understand your medical history, drinking and lifestyle habits. You will also be asked about any psychiatric or emotional issues you may be experiencing. Our doctor will prescribe medication to help with cravings and withdrawal pain. Most patients will need to stay in the hospital until their withdrawal symptoms decrease. This step is critical for health and safety.
These days may be the toughest on the body as you will start experiencing withdrawal symptoms. You may feel dizzy, nauseous, anxious or have trouble sleeping. In severe cases, you could have seizures, respiratory or cardiac problems. Your doctor will monitor your condition closely during this period and medical staff will be available 24/7.
Detox may have a different timeline for everyone based on how fast your body metabolizes alcohol. However, after about 5 days most people are ready for discharge from official detox. Once your doctor has determined that you’ve successfully completed alcohol detox you will be released from the facility.
You’ll be able to return home with your aftercare plan in place, however we strongly recommend post-detox care in either inpatient or outpatient rehab to continue your path towards a sober and happy life.
